Maddy’s relationship is falling apart.  Her life is about to take a turn into the unknown.  When her husband confesses he doesn’t want to be married anymore, Maddy heads to Narragansett, Rhode Island for some time away.  There, she stumbles across a book written by an unknown author which immediately sucks her in.  The Gilded Age woman in the book turns out to be Maddy’s counterpart in every way; failing marriage, emotionally absent husband, a rising sense of desperation and despair.  But while VICTORIA died in her time, Maddy is determined to survive.  She’s determined they both will survive.

As Maddy’s obsession with Victoria’s life deepens, Maddy begins to have flashbacks and visions, leading her to explore the nearby Newport Mansions with the belief that the connection to Victoria goes even deeper.  She comes to believe that she and Victoria may be the same person.  She’s shaken to find out, through the book, that Victoria also receives visions…of the future.

Help comes from an unexpected place.  Maddy’s husband KEN reveals to her that he has a daughter, from a previous relationship out of wedlock.  It is his daughter, a member of the Narragansett Tribe, who tells Maddy that in order to heal the rip in her soul…if not her marriage…she needs to perform a soul retrieval.  The night of a hurricane, Maddy takes shelter in the Narragansett Towers.  She performs the soul retrieval, crosses the boundary of time, to stand with Victoria face to face.  She convinces Victoria that life is worth living…only to be swept into the sea.  Maddy is pulled from the stormy waters by who she believes is Victoria, but turns out to be Ken.  Although the piece of her soul has been healed, it is doubtful the same can be said for her marriage.

PIECES OF ME (59,506 words) is an intricate tapestry, telling two stories of two women lost in time, Maddy and Victoria. Set against the stunning backdrop of Narragansett's famed Towers, beaches, restaurants, and all the splendor of Newport's Gilded Age mansions, it explores the complexity of today's interracial relationships and classism of the past, while showing the strength and resilience of women who survive the men who fail them, and of life’s second chances.
